I have been teaching guitar for over 30 years.  I teach students of all ages, and have produced many excellent students. Read a case study here.

Where it all started

Contrary to popular belief, I was in fact born at a very early age.

I received my first guitar as a Christmas present in 1963, at the age of eleven, surprisingly by sunset I had taught myself to play my first tune. I found this encouraging and in the months to follow I set about learning as many tunes as possible, I even landed up playing my guitar in front of my class mates in a music lesson at school.

I didn’t take up guitar seriously though until I was about eighteen, when I discovered the kind of music I would be playing for the rest of my life.

I had discovered finger picking.  These were the times when the likes of Donovan, Ralf McTell, Don McLean, Cat Stevens, Paul Simon and many others were coming in to their own, and I found this kind of guitar playing fascinating and decided that this kind of guitar playing I wanted to concentrate on.

In the next ten years I played two--three hours a day until I achieved a state of excellence.  At the end of this period I played in a selection of different bands and duos and played professionally through out the south west of the UK for several years.

I have been teaching guitar on and off since the early eighty’s but I have been concentrating on it whole heartedly for the last ten years and have produced many excellent students.
